For high speed printing, packaging and labeling systems that require bar codes to scan with 100% inspection,
the
Code-Tracker® series from PC Industries is the perfect quality assurance solution.
The Code Tracker is
available two different packages.
For companies in printing, packaging, pharmaceuticals or any other industry that utilizes bar codes, the
CT
series offers the ideal combination of speed, real-time
trouble -shooting, reporting and verification to both
traditional and full ANSI standards.
The CT series verifies every bar code coming off of a printing press and displays quality trends in real time,
so corrective action can be taken before quality becomes unacceptable.
Benefits:
- Reduces Waste
- Increases Productivity
- Improves Quality
- Minimizes Liability

REAL TIME REPORTING &
TROUBLESHOOTING:
The CODE-TRACKER™ is unique because
it gives press operators real-time graphical feedback-so press
adjustments can be made before bar code quality becomes and issue.
Specifically,
the CODE-TRACKER™:
- displays real-time trend analysis for all 8 ANSI parameters
- generates and displays real-time grades for all 8 ANSI
parameters
- tracks and displays Narrow Bar Width (NBW) growth and
shrinkage
- creates a viewable Scan Reflectance Profile (SRP) which
provides quality troubleshooting information
- logs job totals and percentages
|
SERIALIZED BAR CODE INSPECTION:
For applications that require printing or applying of serialized bar
codes, the CODE-TRACKER™ checks and provides outputs for the
following common printing problems:
- missing bar code in sequence
- duplicate bar code in sequence
- incorrect bar code in sequence
|
The CODE-TRACKER™ also generates a
detailed database report for each sequential job. This report can be
viewed after each run by the operator, saved, or printed for record
keeping purposes. Each sequential database
report includes the following information:
- Start and stop bar code value
- number of codes inspected
- number of ANSI As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs
- number of no reads
- listing of missing codes
- listing of duplicate codes
- listing of incorrect codes in sequence
|
OUTPUTS AND TRIGGER EVENTS:
The CODE-TRACKER™ systems can four (4) programmable
output signals per scan head. These output signals can be used to
activate a light stack, sound an alarm, stop the press or activate
any other piece of ancillary equipment. Events that can trigger an
output from the CODE-TRACKER™ include:
- passed ANSI Grade
- marginal ANSI Grade
- failed ANSI Grade
- passed Narrow Bar Width
- marginal Narrow Bar Width
- failed Narrow Bar Width
- no read
- mismatch or duplicate code
|
MODES OF OPERATION:
To satisfy market demands for a wide variety of
inspection methods, the CODE-TRACKER™ offers various different
modes of operation. These modes allow the user to customize
bar code inspection to meet varying speed and count accuracy
requirements:
Sync Pulse Mode: averages multiple inspections per bar
code into one grade. Logs all no-reads, mismatches, duplicates, and
missing codes with a count accuracy of +/- .5%. Specifically
designed for bar code inspection in medical, pharmaceutical forms
printing, and government applications and is ideal for any
variable-print situation.
Basic Mode: offers between 1 and 10 inspections per bar
code based on the speed of press, and averages them into one
grade. Designed for standard printing operations where speed and
accuracy are of equal importance.
Free Scan Mode: acquires as many scans as possible for
each code, with maximum speed and no count accuracy. Used primarily
in ultra-high speed printing applications, or in applications where
bar codes are small and/or close together on the press. Offers trend
analysis, which allows the operator to make press adjustments before
the bar code quality becomes a problem.
Motorized Positioning: allows customers to cover multiple
lanes of bar codes with a single scan head. Ideal for applications
where 100% inspection is not required.
SYMBOLOGIES SUPPORTED:
The CODE-TRACKER™ can perform full ANSI inspection on all major
linear bar code symbols, in picket or ladder direction.
|
The bar code symbols which can be inspected are:
- UPC-A/EAN-8
- Interleaved 2 of 5
- Coupon Extended Code
- UPC-A/EAN-13
- UPC-E
- Code 128
- Pharmacode
- Code 3 of 9
- SCC-14
- SSCC-14
|
APPLICATIONS FOR THE CODE-TRACKER™:
Because of the speed and flexibility of the system, it can be used
in a variety of bar code related applications, including:
|
PRINTING:
- Flexographic
- gravure
- offset
- ion deposition
- letterpress
- ink jet
- thermal transfer
- digital printing
|
FINAL INSPECTION:
-
folders
-
gluers
-
slitters
-
rewinder

Bar Code Reading Software
The software can recognize and decode most linear bar
codes and verify that the bar code
is the correct match for each label. If a bar code
cannot be read or is the incorrect code, the
system will send an output to alert the operator and
shut down the machine if this option is purchased.
